Welcome to the official social network of Out of Iraq!

Hey everyone, and welcome to the official social networking website for Out of Iraq, the student anti-war rally in New York City on April 6, 2008.

Join our universal Facebook group!

Let's talk about why you're here and what we're going to do. You're here because you want to end the war in Iraq. You're here because the rampant infringement of civil liberties and divergence with core progressive values is outrageous. You're here because you want to show Washington and the rest of the country that students will not sit quietly and be implicated in this atrocity.

We have to revive faith in genuine activism among our peers, while reminding Congress and Bush that they must act. This is the first event of it's kind, a collective effort by student groups on campuses throughout New York City, New York state, and the larger region to unite under a messge of peace.
So what can you do together?
1: Join this site
2. Introduce yourself in the Introductions forum here
3. Message Kate Redburn or email her at DemsOutreach@gmail.com to let her know that you or your group are taking charge of your campus to bring people to New York for the rally.

Congressional Democrats have shirked their responsibilities by refusing to use the power of the purse to end the war.

We wont let them… Continue

Study: Deployments Hurting Army Kids

A study released last week shows the effect prolonged deployments are having on Army kids. Incidents of mistreatment by parents increase 42% when a parent is deployed to a combat zone, according to the study. Hardest hit are mothers whose significant other is deployed. Among those women, the rate of child neglect increased by four, and the rate of child abuse doubled.
